The Catalan club's pursuit of the Brazilian midfielder has been well documented in recent months, almost turning into a "soap opera" as Barcelona try to secure the 21-year-old's signature.
However, going by reports in Spain on Monday, it appears 'Los Cules' are closer to landing their man as one of their representatives has temporarily moved to Brazil to finalise the transfer.
There has been no doubt that Arthur wants to join the La Liga leaders but the sticking point was always when Gremio were going to let him leave - during Spain's summer transfer window this year or in January 2019 when the next Brazilian campaign finishes.
It appears as if the two clubs could finally be coming to some sort of agreement, but there is another issue for Barcelona. They have already filled their quota of non-EU (European Union) players through Yerry Mina, Philippe Coutinho and Paulinho so would need to think of a solution to squeeze Arthur into the squad.
Their best option would be through Coutinho, who has applied for Portuguese critizenship due to his wife's nationality, but they would need to wait for it to become official before completing Arthur's move to the Camp Nou.
It seems that, although Barcelona are nearer to securing Arthur's signature, the saga could still rumble on for a little longer...
