Higuain left the Bernabeu in 2013 for Serie A and has since found the back of the net 144 times in 238 appearances in all competitions during his stints at Napoli and Juventus.
In comparision, Benzema has scored 101 goals from 215 matches at an average of a goal every 2.13 games, significantly higher than his former teammate who scores every 1.65 games.
During their time in Madrid, the two were extremely close in terms of numbers with Benzema just edging it by one goal. However, it was still Higuain who was chosen to be let loose and has since made 'Los Blancos' regret it.
Nonetheless, it should be worth noting that regarding assists, it is entirely different. In the five seasons since they have been separated, Benzema has provided 58 goalscoring opportunities for his teammates whilst Higuain has only made 35.
Arguably it is this statistic that has made the Frenchman so desireable over the years, relentlessly working the channels and space to put other players through, such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, who have benefitted enormously from this.
However, Benzema has not been at his best this season, scoring just eight times in 33 appearances whereas his former teammate has found the back of the net 21 times in four more games.
Because of this, it looks likely that the France international will be sold in the summer so that Madrid can bring in a new face to take over the illustrious No. 9 shirt.
