There was a confusing period during the FA Cup fifth round match between Manchester United and Huddersfield on Saturday when neither team knew if Mata's goal stood, after the midfielder had slotted home just before half-time.
It was eventually disallowed by the officials, however, replays showed that the lines used to determine whether Mata had been standing in an offside position were far from straight. Although, the Spanish international would have still been in front of the last defender.
Head coach Jose Mourinho expressed his dissatisfaction after the match declaring that he didn't "trust or believe VAR", but thankfully, Mata has seen the funny side.
Posting on his official twitter account, the 29-year-old accompanied the caption "Your face when you meet Mr. VAR for the first time in your career" with a carefully chosen picture of himself appearing to size up his opposition.

Thankfully the incident didn't stop United from beating their Premier League opposition 2-0 to progress to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, where they will face Brighton & Hove Albion.
