The young Italian signed for the 'Monegasques' for a fee of around €20million. He has said that the success Monaco had last season, spearheaded by Kylian Mbappe and a host of other young talents, convinced him that he could make the same step forward with his career.
"I chose this project because they believe a lot in young people and they give them the opportunity to show their qualities," he said in an interview with 'Corriere dello Sport'.
"Last season I watched Ligue 1 and Monaco and the team that won the championship had an excellent season in Europe, which is another reason that drove me to come here," he continued. "There is also the closeness to my family. Monaco is not actually so far from Genoa and, at the same time, it is a high-level club in France and abroad." Monaco is in fact just a two hour drive down the Riviera from the Italian city.
It is a deal that will help both sides as Monaco lost an array of talent in the summer window, including the aforementioned Mbappe as well as Bernardo Silva.
