Having already given Liverpool the lead early on following a trademark run and finish, the Egyptian doubled his tally for the day and Liverpool's lead just before half-time.
Andy Robertson was given far too much space down the left and his cross into the middle left Orestis Karnezis unsure of whether to come and claim it or stay put.
In the end it didn't matter as the ball dropped for Salah to steer it home to put Liverpool two goals to the good at the break.
However, the goal was significant for reasons other than putting Liverpool in the driving seat, with Salah having scored more goals in a debut Premier League season than any other player in Liverpool history.
